Many Thanks and a tag

I hope you guys aren't tired of this paper yet. Because I still have one more card with it to show! This is the 3rd in the set for my aunt. More Scenic Route. More PTI Kraft cardstock. If you have any questions, let me know!

Now for the tag-
Kimmie over at Crafting For Sanity and Lynn at The Queens Scene tagged me.

Here is how you play:
1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Okay so here are my 7 facts...
1. When I was 15, my friend tried to teach me to drive. I wrecked her car.
2. I didn't get my drivers license until I was 17(see above).
3. I love to rearrange furniture.
4. My sister Shani and I sound the same on the phone. Sometimes we confuse people.
5. I'm obsessed with office supplies.
6. I hate to be hot. I'd much rather be cool. Talkin' temperature here.
7. I'm addicted to cinnamon bears and Diet Coke.

Now for the tagging-
I'm not good at tagging.
1.So I tag.... you.
2.Yep. You.
3.You know who you are.
4.You over there.
5.And you.
6.You, the one reading this.
7.Anyone else who wants to be tagged.

An Invite and An EEK!

Here are the invites I made for our Mother's Day lunch next month. We get together and eat and visit and we usually end up at the cemetery to put flowers on Grandma's grave. It's nice.

I love this Tart and Tangy stamp set and the matching Summer Picnic paper. So cute. Kara, do you approve?

Now for the EEK!
And would ya look at what Adam found-
The boys were across the street at my sisters house and they found 3 garden snakes. EEK! I'm not a big fan of snakes. He wanted to keep them. In the house. In my house. Ummm, no. They are free now. Back to the wilds of my sisters backyard. Thanks sis.

Winner!

I actually entered everyone in, regardless of where you lived. I honestly didn't think anyone read my blog! You all are too sweet! I entered the numbers into the random number thing-

Courtney, that's you my dear! I'll get your goodies in the mail!

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions and kind words! I am feeling quite a bit better. And I took a lot of your advice- I cried, I ate, I shopped, I slept, I played on the computer, I went on a housework strike and I prayed.

You guys sure know how to make a girl feel better!

Blog Candy!

Yep. That's right. Blog candy. Why? Because I am in a foul mood. That's why. It's only Tuesday and yet it has been an awful week so far. Actually an awful year, but that's another story. So I figure what better way to make me happy than to do something nice for someone else. Of course I'm going to be a little selfish and make you work for it though.

So what do you have to do to win the blog candy? Leave me a comment and tell me what you do to make yourself feel better when you are in a bad mood. This will stay open until Thursday at 11:59 pm. I will choose a name Friday morning. Sound good? Alrighty then.

Here's the goods-

1 set Inkadinkado Birthday Cupcake stamp set
Assortment of Bazzill Bitty Blossoms
2 yards of "Thank You" printed twill

I'm going to say only those in the US may enter. Because frankly, I'm pretty sure no one outside the US reads my blog. And I think there are like 3 of you in the US that read my blog. So, if you are not in the US and you read my blog, let me know. I might pick you anyway!

Any questions?

Again, no new pics.

What is my problem? I keep forgetting to take pictures. I made a Thank You card set for my sister. She was in a car accident (the day before her birthday! Uggghh!) and needed some cards to send to everyone who brought her flowers, dinners, etc. So of course I made some. And of course I didn't take pictures.

In other news........ oh wait. I don't have any other news. I've been busy, but I can't share just yet. I promise to make something to look at this week. Because my blog is getting pretty boring. But did you notice, I changed my colors again? Much better. Fresher, bright, spring-y. Now if only the weather would change in the same way. ;)

Adam's invites and some goodies!

So Adam's birthday is Saturday (8!) and he is having a friend party that day. He really wanted to do a Pokemon party until I suggested a Lego party. The only thing that outweighs his love for Pokemon is his love for Legos! So here is a pic of the invites I made. It's supposed to look like a Lego. It's really hard to get the camera to focus on it though. You should be able to click on it and make it bigger, then maybe you can see the detail better. Or not.

And here is the back- Sorry I blurred the address. No offense. Just don't want crazies showing up for the party. Jenn, you can still come though. :)

I even used a Lego font. Not that the kids will care but hey, I care. I really, really care. Sad.

Now for the goodies-

What is this pic of ? Well that would be new stamps- Hero Arts Cupcakes. As well as all the colors of double stitched ribbon and the striped grosgrain ribbon from the Stampin' Up! catty. I did a ribbon swap on SCS at it came in the mail today! Yay ribbon! Yay cupcakes!

Sorry, I'm a little giddy after getting 10 hours of sleep. Can you believe the boys didn't come and poke me in the face once last night? Awwww. I guess I'll keep 'em!

New look, new stuff, no pics!

I changed up the colors of my blog. Not sure if I like it. Wanted something springy. What do you think?

I have projects done. I just haven't taken pics of any of them! I will try tomorrow.

For now, I am going to crash. I think I'm getting a migraine. Or it's just potty training stress. Either way, I'm goin' to bed!

Night all.

One more card...

and then I'm going to take a bit of a break-

This is a card for my BIL's birthday this week. I think it is missing something, but I don't know what.

So here's a story for you-
The last week or so has not exactly been fun. Some bad news about family and friends, potty training woes, etc, etc, etc. I wont bore you with the details. So to end off the week, I decide to make some raspberry pretzel salad (because how else am I going to maintain my figure?) only this time I decided to share with my sister and her family(they live across the street from us). So, I take some over. On the way home, I am walking up the driveway to come inside when all of the sudden I'm on the ground in some sort of strange yoga position. Apparently after the sun went down the snow that had been melting all day froze into an ice skating rink. Only nobody warned me to bring my skates. So I pulled some muscles in my back, both legs, right arm and various other places I wasn't aware I had muscles. And I have millions of miniscule cuts all over my hand. Which hand? Why, the right hand of course. Did you know when you fall and stick your hand into a snow bank it's very similar to sticking your hand into a bowl of broken glass? Yep it is. I tried to take a picture of my mangled hand but, I was unable to hold my camera with my left hand and focus on my right hand enough to get a clear picture. So just trust me when I say it's pretty. Actually it's not too bad. Just looks kind of like someone took a red marker and made polka dots all over my palm.

So if you have actually read this far... I am going to take a break for awhile. Let my hand heal. Become really good friends with the heating pad. Finish eating my raspberry pretzel salad. And hopefully be able to get back into making things soon(like by the end of the week since I have about 50 birthdays this month to make things for). Owen after all is asking for a "wobot-bee-ket-wif-skeers" or, a robot blanket with squares. Which means I might have to dust off my sewing machine.

And now I hear the bottle of Tylenol calling my name...

Funkified

Been in a bit of a funk lately. Been funkified. Yes, I'm a dork.

I did make myself sit down and make some cards this weekend-

This will be Ben's birthday card if I can ever get it in the mail.

And this one will go into my stash. Or sent to someone else who's birthday I am late for.

And an update on the valentines-
Went to Target. Adam picked out Transformers valentines. They come with a pencil. And say really horrible things like-
Freedom is the right of all sentient beings, Valentine!
Here's to a heavy metal Valentines Day!
I will prove that I am the best Valentine!

They all have exclamation points! Because Valentine Day is great! And not at all cheesy and unnecessary! I want to poke myself in the eye with the included pencil! Who comes up with this crap?

OK, like I said, funk.
Carry on sentient beings.

Valentines

Bleechh. I hate Valentines Day. We are usually the family at Target the day before Valentines Day trying desperately to find a box of valentines for the boy to hand out that are not Hello Kitty or some other horrible pink madness. This is one holiday I just don't like. At all.

Having said that, this year I thought I would try and be ahead of the game and make Adam some cute but boy-ish valentines to hand out to his class. This is what I came up with-

Sorry the picture isn't great. I don't know what is up with my camera. It couldn't be user error.

So I show them to Adam and what does he say?
"Mmmmm, hmmmm, those are good Mom. (slightly uncertain pause) But we could also go to the store and see what they have."

Translation- I'm too nice to come right out and say those are terrible. Can we please go to the store and buy some?

And of course I made a bunch before showing them to him. Blasted kid. Why, oh why, did I raise him to be an independent thinker? Why? Good thing he's cute.

I guess we will be at Target the night before Valentines Day. Or I guess I could go earlier and get it over with. Whatever.

So, anyone want to be my valentine? You get a shunned-by-a-7-year-old valentine all for your very own...

Tempting huh?

Birthday Calendar

I made this birthday calendar for our neighbor who was kind enough to point out my ineptness at being a mom and tell me to take my child to the Dr because he has croup. OK, so actually I called her and said, "Owen sounds weird, should I take him to the DR?"
The answer was yes. We were able to get him into the Urgent Care place and didn't have to go to the emergency room. And then she brought us dinner too! She saved us tons of money at the very least, possibly my child and my sanity.
I made the calendar following this tutorial and gave her some cards from my stash to go with it as a Thank You.

And I'm probably not really inept at being a mom. I've just never heard a "croup cough" but it is now forever imprinted in my mind.

Catch-Up Post

So, Christmas is over. Can I get a "Hooray!" Not that I don't love Christmas. Well I guess I don't. I like the idea of Christmas. I love spending time with my family. I love the wonder and amazement of small children. I however do not love the greediness, mad rushing, no parking, snippy people and general holiday craziness. Do I sound like Scrooge? Sorry.

This year we went with a handmade theme, which I love. I made 4 different card sets, an apron, a message board, a cool altered CD with a gift card to a music store, family name plaques for the parents and married siblings, cocoa cones for the neighbors and friends- and did I take a picture of any of it? Nope. Totally forgot. But I did also make some ugly dolls for 3 of the nephews, and I did take pictures of those-

Here is Weird Bird which was renamed Peep by his new owner:

Here is Splat which was renamed B:

And here is Injured Eye, renamed Army:
The boys came up with much better names than I did!

So that about wraps up my crazy craftiness for the year. Today I am going to finish Thank You cards for the boys to send. This is what they look like-
I seriously love that hippo. Love it.
Thanks for listening to me rant.
Hope your Holiday festivities were happy and fun!

BotBot and Foam Dots

Owen got this super cool BotBot from his Aunt Jenn for his birthday this year...

Isn't it cute? Owen loves him. Sleeps with him every night.

And check out these uber-cool (had to come up with another word, not super) foam dots by American Crafts. They are only 1 mm thick! I love them! They are just right for boosting a layer that has eyelets, brads or ribbon without being too thick.

And, that's pretty much it for today. I am going to try and make something using my new Basic Grey stamps. But first I need to try and un-stuff my nose. Yep. Sick again. Anyone know of a good immune system strengthener? Cuz I need it.

Dew Drop Substitution

I saw these and fell in love with them. They are perfect for little flower centers or just that extra something on a card. But I'm cheap and haven't bought any yet. Then I was at Robert's yesterday (think Joanns with no fabric or a Michaels- you can buy them there too) and saw these in the wedding/flower arranging isle. It was $11.49 for a 1 pound bag. But I used a 40% off coupon. So for $6.90 I got a huge bag. They are all clear, but I think I can color them with re-inkers or Sharpies or something. And a few of them have air bubbles, but for that price, I could throw all the ones with imperfections away and still come out ahead. Is it wrong to get so excited over something so small?

Made Myself A Marker

I have made markers with re-inkers and Stampin' Ups blender pens before (thanks to Elana's help!) but the other day I found these Fantastix. They are kind of like the blender pens only more like an empty marker. Completely dry. So I thought, "Hey, why not try to make a StazOn marker?" Well, it worked! I love it! I colored some gold loop things black with the marker and they look awesome, if I do say so myself!

Here are the 2 black ones I colored next to the original colors:

And these are what the Fantastix look like. This package had 6 in it, 3 brush tip and 3 bullet tip. There is only 4 left in there now because I used one of each to see which I liked better.

I got them at Michael's and I know that Joann's has them in packages of all one type, so you could get 6 of the brush or bullet ones if you know which ones you like. The pack of 6 is around $5 (use a coupon and it's cheaper) and I thought that was a pretty good price. I think next time I will go to Joann's and get the pack of brush tipped ones. They are easier for me!

And with any luck, I wont make such a mess with the marker as I do with the ink pad. Or, knowing me, it will be just as messy. What's a clumsy girl to do?

No time for ME time.

We have been busy, busy, busy this week. No time to do anything crafty.

But the good news is, I get to go to a card buffet tomorrow night and make cute cards!

And more good news, busy week equals new space to scrap/stamp/sew/craft in.
Now if I could only figure out where to put things. I think I might have too much stuff.
Can you have too much stuff?
Nah, never mind!

I will post pic's of the cards Saturday or Sunday.
Have a good weekend.

Pink For October

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness my crafty blog is going pink! Normally, I'm not such a pink fan (being the mother of 2 boys will do that to you) but this is important to me and has effected our family personally. So, if it's your time to get a mammogram, get it done. And if not, be glad it's not your time to be smooshed and help spread the word.

New Ribbon Storage

So I had all of my ribbon spooled on clothespins in Mason jars. I had 8 jars, one for each color. Apparently I have a ribbon problem because I quickly out grew that. So I un-spooled all my ribbons and wrapped around 3 of my fingers and then used a hair elastic to keep it together. It all fits now in this Snapware container. I have 1 level each for warm, cool and neutral colors with an extra for my fibers, tapes and strings:

On a related note- know anyone who needs some clothespins?
