typewriter birthday

I placed a Stampin' Up order a while ago. Got to play with some of my new goodies. :)

Made a birthday card with this awesome typewriter image. I love the vintagey feel. Everything on this card is Stampin' Up, I have to admit that sometimes I love it when it's all color coordinated for me and I don't have to think about what to use. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Belli Challenge #99- Old Stamps

Belli Challenge #99 is OLD STAMPS. We want you to pull out your dusty old stamps that you've forgotten about and get them inky again. No.... you can't use the stamps you just ordered last week. Hee hee hee! Find those beloved stamps from last year or the year before that you absolutely adore and show them some love.

I pulled out this library card stamp. It's from the very first Stampin' Up set I ordered. I want to say that was... 4 or 5 years ago! I can't even remember the last time I used it. :)

Head over to the Belli blog and see what the rest of the girls did. And be sure to link up if you make a new project to participate, we'd love to see it!

The Lorie-Dani Project #4

Its time for another Lorie-Dani project! This time it was my turn to pick the challenge and I decided we should make a birthday card using a favorite color(s). I think I might have mentioned before that orange and green are 2 of my favorite colors. :)

This is the card I ended up with. I wish now I had used a darker ink so it showed better. But, it's done and whoever gets it will never know(unless they read my blog!). Now go check out Lorie's card. I just know she has something wonderful up her sleeve!

I've got a bunch of errands to run this morning, so I'm off! Have a super day!

Ingredients!

The Lorie-Dani Project #3

This week Lorie challenged us to make something without using patterned paper. Oh, the pain! The agony! Patterned paper is my favorite thing to use!

Well, I managed to get over it. :) This card is 3x6 inches and the images are from the Stampin' Up! set Aviary. The ribbons and button were just in my stash. And that stuff threaded through the button? Why, that's Divine Twine. I'm seriously in love with it and bought a couple yards of all the colors at my LSS. Oh how I wish I could afford full spools in every color! They just make me grin! (Yes, I know. I'm a dork.) :)

Make sure you go see Lorie's card. She always does such amazing work!
Thanks for stopping by!

May SU Swap

Here's my card for my stamp clubs May swap. Very little stamping here, just lots of distressing and die cutting. Somehow my attempt at shabby/vintage still turned out rather clean and simple. I guess you can take the girl out of the city... or something like that. :)

Happy Birthday Flowers

Another cased card. I know, I know. But I'm out of practice and casing is the best way for me to get back into it . Anyway... I used this card on SCS for inspiration. I punched the leafy branches from some green CS using the cool SU! 2 step bird punch. The leaves and flowers were all punched from misc scraps of cardstock I had in my drawer. Great way to use up some of those scraps that seem to multiply when I'm not looking. :)

Daisies

This is a birthday present for one of the amazing ladies in our church. She's an avid gardener and super sweet. Everything on the card is SU! except the ribbon. I even took a sheet of patterned paper that matched the card and wrapped it around the potted flower. It originally was covered in some rather ugly orange plastic type stuff.

Alright, I'm off! Lots to get done this week, hope your week is wonderful!

Belli Challenge #69- Texture!

***Warning! This is a long post! Feel free to just look at the pictures and skip over my rambling!***

So this weeks Belli Challenge is to use some texture on your card. Flock, flower soft, mesh, etc. Sound pretty simple, huh? Here's my card. And then I'll tell you about my adventures making it.

OH MYLANTA!!! This card was certainly a challenge(that's a nice way of putting it)! First I had to find a stamp suitable for flocking. In all the stamps I own, it was ridiculously hard to find one that would work for flock- without using an entire bottle of glue in the process. Finally I settled on this tree image from Stampin' Up! I stamped it in Chocolate Chip in and then went over the leaves with my glue pen and covered it in flock. And in the process ended up spilling the green flock everywhere! It was all over my desk, in my hair, up my nose(ewww!), covering my clothes... you get the point. Everywhere.

Then I had to figure out a way to cut the darned thing out. Because I wasn't smart enough to cut it out before I started flocking. And I should have been smart enough because Holly had the same issue and warned us all, LOL! So I'm sitting there staring at the tree trying to think of a way to cut it out without smushing all the fuzz. Then it dawns on me, use a frame! So I dig out my chipboard stash and start looking for a frame. Finally find one I like. Decide to sponge some color on it in hopes I won't make a bigger mess trying to cover it in paint or paper or something. Wrong. Somehow I managed to get ink all over my desk and hands. Arg. By this time I'm ready to throw the whole thing out and start over.

But I persevered and went on to pick out some patterned paper. I pull out my crate of small paper pads and start flipping through them. While doing so, an earwig crawled out of a Basic Grey pad and ran across my desk(double ewww!!!)! Are you freaking kidding me?!? I hate earwigs. HATE them! So I killed it(ewww again) and picked out this stripey paper from the BG Mellow pad. Finally I got the whole thing put together. Ugh.

Here is a close up of all the texture I worked so hard for and had to kill a bug for(ewww).

So, there you have it. My adventures in texture. Sigh. This may be the last thing I flock for a while... :)

All In One Challenge

Here's another Stampin' Out Alzheimer's challenge card. This challenge was titled All In One. You had to make a card using one color, one ribbon, one stamp and one embellishment. Everything on my card is SU except the brad.

That's about it! Today is Adam's last day of school. And it's a super short one, only an hour and a half. Why do they do that? Seriously. Is it even worth it? Whatever. :)

Have a super Friday! Yay, Friday!

Teacher Appreciation

It's that time of year again, Teacher Appreciation Week!
I CASE'd this idea from Danni's Doodles.

I made 2 sets, one for each of Adam's teachers. I had him write a note inside the card telling each teacher what he enjoys most about being in their class. The cardstock and ribbon is all PTI and the apple paper is from SU, as is the apple stamp. And that's about it. :)

I'm still sick. George(DH) is sick. Adam came home from school saying his throat hurt. Owen still acts like he's sick too. We're going to see if we can get all 4 of us on antibiotics at the same time. Just for fun. Yep, I know- you're jealous. If you don't hear from me for a while it will be because I'm up to my ears in snotty tissues and Clorox wipes. And taking care of my family. And praying that this passes soon. :)

CBCC #35- Use that brayer!

This weeks challenge is to use your brayer. Uh. Well. I had to go buy one. Can you believe I've never actually used a brayer before? So here's my first attempt at it-

Papers are all SU! and the grass image is from the Sweet n' Sassy set- Dream Silhouettes. I inked the grass in Versamark and then embossed it. Then I took my brandy-new brayer and went over it all in Basic Gray ink. Punched out some butterflies with my Martha punch, added some ribbon and that was it!

Go check out what the other chicks have done with their brayers(links on the sidebar)! This weeks keyword is CBCC35 if you upload to SCS or PCP. And make sure to link back to Courtney's blog with your brayer creation for a chance to win a little prize.

Congrats Grad!

Super quick graduation card. The ink, cardstock and patterned paper is all SU! while the ribbon and brad are just from my stash. The images are from a Studio G set I grabbed at Michael's.

Tomorrow is my 3rd week as Courtney's Guest Designer, so make sure you come back to see!

Time for Tea

I was asked to make some invitations for a Tea Party! What a fun idea for a birthday party! This is what I ended up coming up with-

I paper pieced the teacup and used a combination of stamps to finish it up- CHF- Comforting Hugs, Stampin' Up!- Everyday Flexible Phrases and Martha Stewart- Christmas Invitation set and Pattern Blocks. The patterned paper is Imaginisce. And the lace is some I found at the craft store and thought it would be perfect with the theme.

Here's a close up of the lace and tag-

Thanks for visiting! Tomorrow is CBCChallenge day so make sure you stop back!

Bird-Day Card

Holy Hannah, am I ever glad it's the weekend! Here is a card I made for Owen's preschool teacher last week. Easy-peasy.

So this week... it was fun. OK, fun probably isn't the word I'd use. We had dentist appointments on Monday for cleanings. I'm in the middle of a disagreement with Adam's teacher. I got some news that threw me for a loop and then some other news that was disapointing. But I won't bore you with those details. The best part of the week? Owen had a small cavity that he needed filled. So we went back Thursday to do that. He wasn't scared at all, until his cousin came over that morning and told him how scary it was how how it hurt super bad to go to the dentist! Arg! But he did fine at the appointment. Then we went to Target to buy him a new toy for doing so well(yes, I bribe my children. I don't have a problem with it and I don't want to hear if you do. No offense.) and while we were walking around looking at toys, he had been chewing on his numb lip. All the sudden I looked down and he was covered in blood! It was awful. And still numb so he didn't even know he was bleeding.

And now he looks like this-

He's mad that I took a picture of his lip. It hurts. He's cranky. And I don't blame him. I'd be cranky too. Wait, I am cranky too. His lip is still very swollen. It looks like someone punched him in the mouth. Poor kid. So, between dealing with dentists, Adam's teacher(who apparently thinks I'm an idiot), trying to keep the house picked up, receiving upsetting news(that I won't go into here) and everything else life has thrown my way this week... I'm tired. I won't be posting again until Tuesday's challenge. I hope you understand. :)

Now I'm off to clean off my desk so I can start on my project for Tuesday. And maybe get at least one more project done to show you next week. But at this point I'm not promising anything. :)

Urban Oasis Thank Yous

Here's a couple more cards using the Urban Oasis paper. I like the bottom one best. The die cut is a Quickutz die, it cuts the 2 outside layers at the same time so I made one in kraft and one in black and then took them apart to get the black on the middle layer.

Thanks for visiting. I'm off to the Scrapbook Expo today! Woo-hoo! I'm going with my friend Deb and then we're hitting Ikea and getting lunch! Hope your weekend is fun too!

Urban Oasis Birthday

I fell in love with this Urban Oasis paper in the SU catty, so I ordered some. I still love it. But I'm not sure what to do with it. Does that make sense? Does anyone else do that? I love all the patterns and the colors, but find that I struggle putting it together. Sigh. Anyway, here is a birthday card I made with it. The sentiment is brighter in real life. It kind of washed out in the pic. :)

Thanks for visiting! Hope you all have a fun Friday!
