You're out of this world!

I love the boy stamps that Papertrey Ink has. This little rocket is too cute. I used the Sweet Sunday sketch #151 and came up with this simple encouragement card. The stamps and cardstock are PTI and the patterned paper is the Bo Bunny Blast Off collection

typewriter birthday

I placed a Stampin' Up order a while ago. Got to play with some of my new goodies. :)

Made a birthday card with this awesome typewriter image. I love the vintagey feel. Everything on this card is Stampin' Up, I have to admit that sometimes I love it when it's all color coordinated for me and I don't have to think about what to use. :)

Forward

Here it is, already the first week of February and I'm just now picking a word. Nothing was feeling right to me. Then while browsing on Pinterest I found it.

This year I want to focus on moving forward. Last year was a really hard year. Really hard. Some days I feel like life is always going to be hard. Maybe it is, I don't know. But I do know I have to choose to keep moving forward. I cannot change the things that have already happened but I can choose to accept those things, learn from them and use them to benefit my life.

Cookies

Headed to dinner at our neighbors house tonight. We're in charge of dessert. I made cookies. Pretzel Rolo Cookies. Oh yeah. Yum.

 (crappy cell phone pic- sorry)

I adapted this recipe to make them. Instead of chocolate and peanut butter chips I chopped up half a bag of Rolos. And I didn't have any pretzel salt/sea salt for the top so I sprinkled a little regular salt on them. It's not as attractive but it worked.

I'll have some craftiness to show you next week. Pinky promise. :)

{happy birthday}

Here's a quick birthday card I made. I ordered a pack of this Imaginisce Birthday Bash paper so I'll be making lots more birthday cards! :)

Short and sweet for now, I'm up to my ears in Christmas plans and crafting. I promise myself every year that I'll be better prepared and every year I'm still doing things at the very last minute!

Thankful Thoughts...

I want to make sure my friends and family know how much I love them and how thankful I am to have them in my life.

So far this year has been a very eventful one. Long story short- I wasn't even sure if I still had it in me to be crafty. But, I'm working my way back into the crafty world bit by bit. Starting with this little card here. :) I'm not going to promise I'll be posting all the time. But I am going to do my best to post when I get something made.

Thanks for waiting around for me to get my groove back.
See you soon!

Done.

Hello friends.

Just wanted to pop in and let you all know that I won't be posting here anymore.
I've been trying to prioritize my life and posting on this blog is at the very bottom of my list right now. Everything is fine, my heart just isn't in it anymore.

I plan on leaving this blog up so I(and you) can go back and view projects and someday I might start blogging again, but for now this will be it.

Thank you all for your support and always stopping by and leaving such sweet comments. If you want to stay in contact you can always reach me by email at- danigetscrafty (at) comcast (dot) net.

Teacher Appreciation

It's Teacher Appreciation Week!
And in true slacker form, I waited until the last day of the week to send anything to school.

I made these flower clips for the boys' teachers using the pattern and tutorial (I only used 3 of the petal patterns though) from Suzanne at Just Another Hang Up. Then I designed and printed the 4x6 cards to attach them to. Easy peasy. :)

Funny story- while I was burning the edges of the flowers with a candle, Owen showed up behind me waiting ever so patiently with a hot dog on a fork. He figured he could roast the hot dog once I finished my project. Silly boy! Instead we had a chat about fire safety. At least life is never dull around here.

Pinwheels!

My cousin and his wife are having a baby girl! We don't get many girls in our family so this is pretty exciting. :) We love our boys, don't get me wrong. But there's something so fun about girls!

The baby shower was Saturday and I was in charge of making pinwheel decorations.
Here are some pics of the pinwheel garland I made.
I used papers from My Minds Eye Lush line, buttons from my stash, mini clothespins, some twine and some lace. Glued it all together and you've got a garland.

I also made some single ones for centerpieces. Just picture them on a stick instead of attached to the garland. ;)

And I only managed to ruin 1 shirt in the process. I was using a bottle of Scotch Quick Dry glue. It wasn't coming out of the bottle very well. So I squeezed it harder. And it exploded all over me. And my couch. Thankfully it came out of the couch. My shirt, not so much. Oh well. ;)

Happy Birthentines Day!

Birthentines? Yep. Today is Valentines Day but it's also my hubby's birthday!
For breakfast I got up early and made some chocolate chip, heart shaped pancakes with raspberry syrup. Yum. The boys got strawberry-banana smoothies too. And sitting next to their plates were these cute owls!

(crappy cell phone pic- I'll add better pics later)

I got the pattern at Just Another Hang Up and whipped them up late last night. The pattern was super fun and easy. I had a few minor issues(of my own making) though. Like the fact that I can't find the box I packed my interfacing in. So I sewed them without it. They're a bit floppy. I ended up topstitching around them in hopes that it would give them a bit more standy-uppy-ness. And my machine was having issues. So I stopped in the middle and my amazing hubby cleaned and oiled it for me. It's still having issues. Sigh. Someday I'll have one of those cool, fancy-schmancy machines. Until then, I'll keep plugging on. :)

Now I'm off to make lasagna for DH's birthday dinner!

Polo Shirt Project

While cleaning out closets and getting ready for our move, I came across quite a few treasures. :) One treasure was a bunch of t-shirts DH had received from various places and never worn. I figured I could used them for something crafty...

My goal is to see how many different projects I can make out of this one men's, 3XL, cream colored polo shirt.

Here's the shirt I'll be using for my projects.

First up-

Some flowers for a grapevine wreath to hang on my front door. I used a mash-up of various tutorials from around Blog Land to make them.

There really are so many different tutorials out there. I just picked some flowers I liked and kind of did my own thing.

Thanks for stopping by, stay tuned for my next project!

Recipe and New Project

Since some of you have asked for it, here's the Creme Brulee French Toast recipe. Keep in mind, I haven't made it myself!

Creme Brulee French Toast
1/2 c. butter
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp corn syrup
6 slices thick bread
5 eggs
1 1/2 c. half and half
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

In a small saucepan melt butter, brown sugar and corn syrup. Pour into 9x13 pan.
Break bread up into small pieces, add to pan.
Wisk eggs, half and half, salt and vanilla together, pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours(or overnight). Preheat oven to 350* and bake covered for 35-40 minutes, uncovering for the last 5-10.

We had it with peaches and it was super yummy. I don't think it needs maple syrup or anything like regular french toast. But eat it however you want!

Now for a new project. But you don't get to see pictures yet. When I was packing, I found a couple shirts of DH's from his old work that he's never worn. One of which is a cream colored knit polo. My goal is to see how many projects I can make out of this one shirt. So far I'm up to 3! I'll share some pics next week.

thanks

So... we're mostly moved finally. It's such a long process. We have a ridiculous amount of stuff. Ridiculous, I say. One of our new neighbors brought us a meal last weekend. Creme Brulee French Toast! Oh.My.Word. It was delicious. To die for. I'll just take the pan and a fork, thank you very much. :)

After I got the pan washed up I figured I'd whip up a quick Thank You card to take over. It was so nice to get out some paper and play!

The patterned paper is Doodlebug. The sentiment rub-on is from Pebbles Inc. The button and ribbon came out of my stash. Sorry for the poor photo, I had to use my cellphone. My camera is still packed in a box somewhere. Sigh. So much left to do!

Thanks for stopping by, with any luck I'll have more to post soon!

One Little Word 2011

It's that time again. Time to say goodbye to last year and say hello to a new start. And time to participate in Ali Edwards One Little Word project. This year I've chosen the word intentional.

Why intentional? Sometimes I feel like I live my life by sitting back and letting it happen. I don't want that kind of life. I want to live a life full of meaning. A life with purpose. At times I get a feeling that I should call someone or sit down and write a note. Usually I brush that aside and move on- good intentions, no actions. I want to follow those feelings. To follow up on those good intentions. I want to figure out why I can spend an hour on Facebook with no problem but will put off doing laundry until we are all out of clothes. I want to know the thoughts and feelings behind my actions. I want to live a more intentional life. Care to join me?

Hedgie Quilt

Thought I'd pop in real quick and show you some of what I've been working on. Owen, as you may know, is totally obsessed with hedgehogs. I decided I wanted to make both boys quilts this year but couldn't find any hedgehog fabric that I liked. So, here's my first attempt at doing an applique.

This is just the top of the quilt. I still need to finish it. I see a couple late nights in my immediate future. :)

Speaking of sewing, my friend Deb posted a link to HomeSpunThreads. Tons of super cute patterns, go check them out! Just spreading the love. :)

knock off pillow

I made something! Woot!

Earlier this week, I went to a little place called Tai Pan Trading. They always have the coolest home decor stuff and their holiday displays are amazing. Anyway, while I was browsing, I found this super cute felt pillow.

Adorable! But I wasn't about to spend money on something so simple. What can I say? I'm cheap. So I cut out some felt pieces and made myself a pillow. Turns out my pillow looks nothing like the one at Tai Pan. But, I like it all the same. :)

I ended up making mine with the cheap-o felt sheets you find in the kids craft section. 4 pieces of felt and some batting was all it took. I'm thinking this probably cost me all of $2.00. It's small, probably about 6x10 inches, but it will look great on my couch with some bigger pillows.

My Little Secret...

So, I have another confession.
No, I'm not pregnant.

I am, however, getting my house ready to sell!
That, my friends, would be why I haven't been crafting or posting. I'm much too busy painting, packing, purging and painting some more. I'll post some pictures of my projects once I've got everything done and we're ready to list the house. My downstairs bathroom will finally be finished after starting the remodel 4 years ago. FOUR YEARS! Just in time to move. Oh my.
Anyway, I'm excited. And I'm busy. But I'm not giving up my hobbies. Just putting them on hold for a bit longer. I hope you'll hang in there with me! At the very least I may lose my mind and the random ramblings should be entertaining. :)
Hugs!
