Howard A Trexler, 86, of Pleasant Grove passed away Wednesday April 29, 2009. He was born July 21, 1922 in West Lawn, PA to Howard A and Helen Trexler. He married Sarah Jane Gardner on December 5, 1944 in West Lawn. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Howard grew up in West Lawn and attended school where he graduated from Wilson High School. He was Junior Class Vice President and Senior Class President. He was also involved in the Safety Club and the Hi-Y Club. He joined the U. S. Army Air Corp. and served during WWII.

He met Jane while they were both serving in the military and later moved to Utah to raise their eight children.

He retired from the Utah State Prison as a Corrections Officer after 18 years of service.

His interests included collecting coins, genealogy, fishing, camping, dutch oven cooking, and traveling with the Good Sam Club. He was an active member of the LDS Church.

He is survived by his children: Glenn (Patty), David, Sandee (Roy) Higgins, Gerald (Nancy), Ron, Merri, Kathy (Robert) Kresser; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane; daughter, Patti; great-granddaughter, Kayla; and grandson, Daniel.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary and on Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the American Fork City Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 72. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Alpine Valley Care Center and Hospice for Utah for their kind and loving care of Howard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you take your loved ones out to dinner to create a memory.
